Information about the Entrance Audition

The entrance audition serves to determine the applicant's artistic aptitude for the chosen course of study. It consists of an audition in the chosen main subject and further examination parts depending on the chosen course of study.

Evaluation

The examination board evaluates the performance in the individual parts of the audition as follows:

Especially acceptable (24 - 19 points)
Acceptable (18 - 9 points)
Not acceptable (8 - 0 points)

The entrance audition is passed if the performance in all parts of the audition has been assessed as at least "acceptable". In undergraduate degree programmes, the entrance audition is also passed even if the compulsory instrument (piano or another approved instrument) part of the audition has been assessed as "not acceptable", but the main instrument part of the audition has been assessed as "especially acceptable". In this case, the proficiency exam in the compulsory instrument subject must be repeated after two semesters.

The entrance audition for a postgraduate course is considered passed only if the overall result is "especially acceptable".

Recognition of examination results obtained elsewhere

Applicants who submit proof of equivalent completed training in music theory and aural training or in other parts of the examination together with their application for admission may be exempted from these individual parts of the examination. The examination board decides on the recognition after hearing from the responsible study commission.

Allocation procedure

If the number of study places available in the individual courses is less than the number of applicants who have passed the entrance audition, an allocation procedure will take place.

Validity of the entrance audition

If an applicant is not admitted to the study programme after passing the entrance audition, the examination result remains valid for the following three admission procedures (two years in total) and entitles the applicant to participate in the allocation procedures taking place within this period. For this purpose, only a written application with the required documents has to be submitted by that semester's deadline.

If the entrance audition is repeated, only the result of the repeated audition will be taken into account. The repeat audition will include all parts of the audition.
