Certificates and documents

In some cases, the date of the last examination and the date of the certificate or diploma are significantly different. In some cases, the difference is more than a year. There are always enquiries as to how this large difference can occur. Therefore a short explanation:

In principle, certificates and diplomas bear the date on which the last certificate of required academic achievements is received by the examinations office. Ideally, the date should coincide with the date of the last examination. In this case, all required coursework was completed before the date of the last examination and certified to the Examinations Office. However, in cases where students only complete coursework after the last examination due to individual delays in the course of study or provide proof of this later, the certificate will bear a later date. The examination administration's options for action are limited, as certificates (test certificates) for coursework without grading are initially obtained via the course catalogue and are therefore the responsibility of the individual student. In principle, you can obtain the signature directly from the respective teacher at the last point in time when the work is completed. If students only obtain signatures for coursework at a later date, this may result in a later date being shown on the transcript or certificate.

Therefore a request: Please keep your student record book up to date and submit your updated student record book to the Examinations Office no later than the semester before your final examination, but generally once a year.
