  • First Semester Advising

At the beginning of your studies, an informational event will be held especially for first semester students. The focus is on the organization and course of the program as well as elective possibilites: Info can be found on the News Area of the website.

  • Advice offered by the Study Commission

Members of the study commission, in cooperation with the university lecturers of the departments, offer course advice on various courses, majors and modules. It deals with fundamental questions of the subject, study ability, interpretation of requirements in course manuals, etc.

  • Mentors

Mentors are a permanent component of the Study and Examination Regulations and support the students by giving specific information about the organization, progression, and content of the program, and help students choose a profile and select their elective modules. In particular, the mentor communicates with the student about the number of credits that have already been acquired and the number of credits that are still missing according to the study plan, advises them on developing their strengths and compensating for weaknesses, and motivates them to be independent and take the initiative. He or she supports an individual study biography within the framework.Further counseling sessions - also with other teachers - take place at their request or at the request of the student. The student must take advantage of the advising. Students have the possibility to select a second mentor. Mentor advising takes place at least once per semester and the minutes of the consultation must be submitted with the re-registration. (see Form for Advising Appointments – Mentor Consultation).

The teaching degree courses are an exception. Both in the bachelor's and master's degree courses for teaching at a secondary school, advice and support throughout the course of the course is provided by the  Program Leadership of the teaching degree courses.

  • Study and Examination Administration

The student and examination administration provides support in all formal matters. In particular, this concerns examinations and proof of performance, as well as general questions regarding your studies. Please get in touch with the appropriate contact person for your request.

  • International Students and Student Support

The International Office of the University advises and supports students who are interested in a stay abroad (studies or internship).

  • AStA – Student Union Executive Committee

The Student Union Executive Committee (AStA) is an important contact for questions and problems for all students as well as the intermediary and contact person between the students and the Rectorate.

  • Equal Opportunities Officer and questions in connection with sexual harassment

The Equal Opportunities Officer of the University of Music is the responsible contact person for questions in connection with sexual harassment and everyday matters that concert fair conduct with others. In this sense, the Equal Opportunities Officers act as confidants for the individual concerns of students.

  • Pregnancy and maternity leave

Maternity leave law stipulates that pregnant students should inform the University of their pregnancy. The aim of the law is to protect the health of the student and her child at the place of study during pregnancy, after childbirth and while breastfeeding. At the same time, disadvantages should be avoided during these times. During the statutory maternity protection periods, the university is not allowed to allow pregnant students to study six weeks before or eight weeks after childbirth unless you expressly agree to do so. The declaration is invalid if it conflicts with the result of a risk assessment or doctor's note. The forms for maternity leave and leave of absence, application for individual part-time, and study period extension can be found in the Downloads area.

As a family-friendly University, we offer you counseling options on the compatibility of studies and family. You can take advantage of this without formally notifying the University of your pregnancy. Point of contact is Prof. Dr. Ahner.
