Vita

Michal Stanikowski was born in Poland in 1982 and discovered the guitar at the age of nine. Five years later he was the first guitarist in the history of the Poznañ "School of Talent" to be allowed to study in the class of Prof. Zaleski. He directed Michal Stanikowski's education until he graduated from the Academy of Music in Wroclaw.

In 2004, Michal Stanikowski spent a semester at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Hannover on a scholarship. After this year Michal Stanikowski decided to continue his education in Germany, where he worked with professors such as Prof. Sonja Prunnbauer in Freiburg, Prof. Ricardo Gallen in Weimar and Prof. Michael R. Raman Hampel in Trossingen. In addition, he completed his artistic education by studying musicology at the University of Freiburg and postgraduate studies at the Weimar College of Music in the class of Tomasz Zawierucha. He attended numerous master classes of renowned musicians with Joaquin Clerch, Aniello Desiderio, Carlo Marchione, Thomas Müller-Pering, David Russell, Ichiro Suzuki and Fabio Zanon.

Michał deepened his skills in the following fields of study: Magister Artium, Diplom Musiker, postgraduate studies A, postgraduate studies B, Master of Chamber Music and concert exams. He is also a laureate of 19 national and international music competitions, e.g. in Gdansk, Krynica, Olsztyn, Poznan, Sanok, Enschede, Trossingen, Weimar and Velbert. He is also a ten-time scholarship holder of various foundations. For example, he received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, a scholarship from the "Young Poles" Foundation and a scholarship from the "Yehudi Menuhin Live Music" Foundation.

Michał Stanikowski appears at many music festivals in Europe and overseas as a soloist, chamber musician and with chamber and symphony orchestras, works as a juror at guitar competitions, interprets world premieres and gives master classes.

His critically acclaimed 6 CD recordings and concerts have taken him to many well-known stages (e.g. Barcelona, Berlin, London, Los Angeles, New York and Warsaw).

His versatile musical interests brought him to work with many top-class musicians, lower others with Jakub Drygas (clarinet), Marek Pasieczny (composition), Tomasz Zagorski (tenor) or the Quartet(o) Freiburg (members of the FBO).

The cooperation with students of the University of Music and Performing in ensembles is especially close to his heart. More than thirty of his students have won prizes at regional, national and international guitar competitions. Some of his graduates study guitar and teach at music schools.
